Financial Life Planning
“I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.  To reach the port of heaven, we must sometimes sail with the wind and sometimes against it---but we must sail and not drift, nor lie at anchor.”
                                                Oliver Wendell Holmes

Your wealth should be at the service of your life - not the other way around.

Planning for your financial life often seems to be all about crunching numbers.

   “How many years before retirement?”

“What do you spend each month?”

“On a scale of 1 to 10, how comfortable

        are you with risk?”

But your financial life is more than numbers. Your financial life is about your goals and your dreams. At NextStep Financial Planning, the focus is on planning for your Life. We start with the human side of financial planning. “Number-crunching” is vitally important, but without discovering what the deepest, most profound goals are for your Life, the “number-crunching” has no foundation - no direction.

What is Financial Life Planning, anyway?

What are your dreams, your passions, your inspiration?

NextStep Financial Planning employs a more holistic method of financial planning, called Financial Life Planning. Life is about change, and the purpose of Financial Life Planning is to facilitate successful transitions. It may be a transition you are planning in the future, a change your experiencing right now, or something that you hope to do in life, someday. The practice is built around the discipline of Life Planning, designed by George Kinder of the Kinder Institute. http://www.kinderinstitute.com. Some say it is simply "financial planning done right". It is planning that focuses on the person who has assets, rather than than just the assets themselves. Money touches every aspect of our lives. Money can act as a facilitator for accomplishing our most significant goals, or it can seem to be the greatest obstacle to living the life we envision.
